ABC's Disney Starlet Zendaya hits back at Fashion Police's Giuliana Rancic after 'racist' comments about her dreadlocks

'I don't smell like weed': Zendaya hits back at Fashion Police's Giuliana Rancic after 'racist' comments about her dreadlocks
By ROSS MCDONAGH FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Zendaya has hit back at Giuliana Rancic after she claimed the singer smelled of weed just because she has dreadlocks.  The Fashion Police host made the comments as the starlet arrived to Sunday's Academy Awards, claiming 'I feel like she smells smells like patchouli oil… or maybe weed.'  The 18-year-old reacted furiously on Twitter, accusing the E! anchor of being 'ignorant, disrespectful and outrageously offensive'.

'There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful,' she wrote. 'Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, but because I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect.

'To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or “weed” is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don’t usually feel the need to respond to negative things but certain remarks cannot go unchecked.'

The Disney star then listed a number of personal luminaries who wear dreadlocks, and included her father, brother, best friend and little cousins.

Her rant went a little bit off the rails when she claimed there was 'already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of others who chose to judge people based on the curl of their hair.'
But her point never wavered, demanding Rancic 'contemplate a little before opening your mouth so quickly to judge'.
'My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough. To me locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion's mane,' She added.

Zedaya's fans were quick to support her on Twitter, with some posting demands for apologies from E!, while other posted funny memes.
However the 40-year-old tv personality apologised, for offending her, but refuted claims what she had said was racist.

'Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others,' she tweeted. 'I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!'

Lana Del Rey "Cut" from Beach Boys new Album

Why Lana Del Rey & Frank Ocean Were Cut From Brian Wilson Album (Recap)

.
On Monday Why Lana Del Rey & Frank Ocean Were Cut From Brian Wilson Album was a top story. Here is the recap: (Radio.com) Equally enigmatic and adored in their own ways, Frank Ocean and Lana Del now have one more thing in common: They've both been cut from Brian Wilson's upcoming album No Pier Pressure. And now we know why.
Why wouldn't the Beach Boy co-founder include contributions from such beloved artists? Apparently Frank and Lana's schedules were too hectic to put the final touches on their guest spots.

"[Brian] really loved his voice," a representative for Wilson told Pitchfork of Ocean. "Maybe another time." On the topic of Lana, the representative said, "It was a timing thing as well, he wanted her to come back in to do more work but scheduling didn't allow."

The throwback chanteuse had appeared on a track called "The Last Song" but now Wilson is the only artist who appears on it. Ocean meanwhile had planned to be on "Our Special Love" but he's since been replaced by Peter Hollens.

Mitchell Bobby Gaskin

In Debut, Gaskin Cooks Up Melodic Hooks
Mitchell Bobby Gaskin’s debut album, Simply Beautiful to Me, is a funky-fried dish that simmers with pop, urban, tropical and dance music.

“I want people to celebrate the love between a man and a woman.”- Mitchell Bobby Gaskin
(HOOKS, TEXAS) October 25th, 2014 – As if he was a master chef, singer-songwriter Mitchell Bobby Gaskin has managed to cook up a melodic mix of musical hooks in his debut album, Simply Beautiful to Me. What is most ironic is the fact that he composed the entire album while living in Hooks, Texas. The CD is a funky-fried dish that simmers with pop, urban, tropical and dance music.

The title track, “Simply Beautiful to Me” was officially released in January of 2014 but it had success on the preview charts when it climbed into the Top 50 on Digital Radio Tracker. It also gleaned Gaskin over nine-thousand listeners as well as many fans on RadioAirPlay.com.
Mitchell’s recent success has earned him a mention on Coast 2 Coast Magazine in October’s Issue No. 54 and placement in Coast 2 Coast mixtape Makin Moves Vol 318. Now, he is eager to share the rest of Simply Beautiful to Me with his fans as the album official launches to radio.
Mitchell explains the thematic elements behind the title track as well as the entire album… “The ideas and inspiration for Simply Beautiful to Me started with the desire to describe how a woman looks to me in ways unseen by others.” There’s eight tracks on the album, all showcasing Gaskin’s ability as a lyricist. “I started out as a poet… a writer… So, singing and songwriting was just a hobby at first, but that’s changed.” explains Mitchell. The project echoes Mitchell’s wide array of musical influences - the central of which was Sam Cooke – another pioneering singer-songwriter.
Key tracks on Simply Beautiful to Me include “Your Loveable Eyes,” a romantic and emotive power-ballad. Gaskin’s “Beautiful Just the Way You Are” goes high-energy and high-tempo with its dance/club feel. “Sometimes Life is Cruel” shines with its PM Dawn-ish and retro 80s flair. In the studio, Mitchell relied on the talents of producer Frank Pryor, and the instrumentation skillset of Jordan Rainer on piano and keyboards. In 2014, Mitchell signed a publishing and distribution deal with Tate Music Group to help spread his funky-fried dish of hooky melodies… all composed in Hooks, Texas.
