These Experimental Labels Seek New Musical Forms in Beijing and Shanghai
Beijing’s experimental scene has turned minimal and introspective, and Shanghai’s has gone harsh and abrasive. These are the new sounds emerging from these two distinctly different cities.

Jon Bap’s New Album is a Frenetic Mix of Funk, R&B, Trap, and Jazz

“Yesterday’s Homily” is Jon Bap’s creative breakthrough, a bold leap of faith for an up-and-coming act. But while his popularity is growing, his dedication to his distinct artistic vision remains unswayed.

How Luxury Records Became Sweden’s Home for “Dirty Pop” Music

Laurence Turner: 'The Bad and Boujee State of Indie Rock' By LFR - London Fields Radio

New show by LFR - London Fields Radio

Laurence Turner: 'The Bad and Boujee State of Indie Rock'

Earlier on in the year, David Longstreth of Dirty Projectors took to Instagram to begin a discussion about whether Indie Rock had 'gone bad'. The question resonated with me, as it was something I'd been debating in my head for a while.

What interested me in the responses was how quick so many music news sources were to dismiss the notion. What did they have to be defensive about?

In this show, we listen to music by all the musicians that weighed in on instagram, here what news outlets had to say about the discussion and listen to some examples of what was posited as contemporary examples of good quality indie rock.

With music from:
-Grizzly Bear
-Whitney
-Mount Eerie
-Waxahatchee
-Fleet Foxes

and more
