New single ‘High & Gritty’ is a true story of band leader Grippa’s spontaneous love affair with a Mexican beauty over in the land of the Zapatista’s, co-written and sung by Hempolics gang member Dandelion. It’s a reggae pop smash blazed with summery horn hooks and skilled dub effects and has already received early support from Lauren Laverne on BBC6 and was selected by David Rodigan as his ‘Scorcha of the Week’. Be sure to check the video for ‘High & Gritty’ filmed at the world famous Notting Hill Carnival.
'High & Gritty' is released with an eclectic set of remixes featuring a killer Jungle / Dubwise remix from FLeCK, a bouncy Dub from Umberto Echo, a party-starting version from DJ Maars and a variety of Dub rubs from Canadian maestro Dubmatix.
‘High & Gritty’ is a step forward on The Hempolics exciting journey moving on from the success of previous single ‘Me Love To Sing’ which was playlisted on BBC6 to much critical acclaim including Chris Hawkins describing the band as “the best new reggae band on the planet”.
